February 2025 update.

The Battle for Khilsiek has paused. The departure of the Earth Alliance task force due to attrition left the Brakiri force, in the form of the Resha-Kar corporation, to face the Pak'ma'ra. Uncertain how to proceed against the gentle beings, despite a brutal attack on a Brakiri convoy of Human prisoners of war, Resha-Kar has settled in and concentrated on equipping their allies in the system with modern weapons and several Earth Alliance ships salvaged from the battlefields. Their industrial activities in the Retaria system have also been renewed with vigour as the corporation looks to exploit the opportunity of the Earth Alliance abandoning the system and the absence of any ISA ships to enforce the ISA position. It is not expected to be long until the ISA becomes more forceful.

While the Brakiri busy themselves increasing their military assets in Khilsiek and Retaria their spies have caught wind of a significant purchase of military equipment by the Pak'ma'ra from the Hurr. Things might will become more active in the not too distant future.

Greetings all, welcome to this update. apologies for not being too active here since the new year. Its been all change and here are some previews of what is to come later in 2025.

A Call To Arms.

The Story of the Resha-Kar corporation is far from over. New ships are scheduled to enter service just as soon as they receive a fresh coat of paint.

Resha-Kar have been acquiring lots of ships of late

I've not yet explored the whole of the game and there are recent STL releases by the usual suspects that mean an ISA and Minbari fleet will soon be in the works together with some more substantial assets for my Dilgar fleet which will be having its first appearance soon.

Battlefleet Gothic

BFG is still the biggest space combat game out there despite being out of print and not officially supported since forever. I have thousands of games under my belt from the good old days and there are a number of people who would rather play games in the Warhammer 40k universe than in Star Trek, Star Wars and Babylon 5 ones. I sold a lot of my BFG stuff a long time ago, but like Babylon 5 and Star Trek there are a plethora of STL's out there if you have a 3d printer that allow you to build whatever fleet you want. My fleet of choice was always chaos and I've been building that force back up with 3d prints mostly by Italianmoose but there are lots of excellent designers out there.

Necrons attack a Chaos fleet

My favourite faction has been the Tau Empire since they were first released so a Tau fleet is also being worked on. BFG isn't as interesting a game as some others but it is very familiar and I picked the rules up again super quick. Expect some fast and vicious games as Tau Empire and Chaos fleets clash with all comers.

Cyberpunk 2020

There are quite a few reasons why I've not been regaling you with my battlefield exploits and the most significant is that I started playing a new game on my PlayStation and it has me somewhat hooked. The game in question is CD Project Red's Cyberpunk 2077. I cannot recommend the game enough. Ordinarily I do not play many computer games, but this one has captured me, and put a dent in my other hobby time. I do play RPG's with friends every few weeks and we are working our way through Dragonheist (slowly).

Lots of terrain made so far, perhaps using the glue gun a little too much

Once that campaign is concluded we will be jumping into a cyberpunk campaign and I have been making a few pieces of terrain ready for the start of it. there is plenty more to come, and having a fully realised board for some Friday Night Firefights will bring the setting to life.

Star Trek (Babylon 5 Wars Rules)

ACTA and BFG are both quite abstract games and one of my regular opponents, Ginge, who is playing Pak'ma'ra in our Babylon 5 campaign wanted to try something a little more in depth. Cue trying to decide which of the Star trek games we wanted to play. We eventually decided to use the Babylon 5 Wars Rules by Agents of Gaming and the Star Trek conversion that you can find on the Babylon 5 Wars vault. I'm enjoying the rules so far even if they do require a lot of book keeping to keep track of how fast ships are going, where they can turn and how you are allocating their sensors.

The Cardassian Union gets some rough treatment from the Klingon Empire
The balance of some of the ship conversions is a bit iffy but its not a deal breaker for casual play. we are intending to make some changes as we get more into the game since there are some obvious inconsistencies.

Infinity, TOW, KOW, OPR, 40k and others

I play a lot of games, and I will probably be giving them a bit of a go sometime this year. My favourite skirmish miniature game of all time is Infinity by Corvus Belli and there are local groups who have some players so a few field trips might be on the cards. The Old World is taking off in my area, and I've rebased a few of my High Elves but I'm really not impressed by the rules whatsoever. I'm ready to play, and I may dip my toe back into 40k if I can find someone who wants to play older editions, 10th is really the worst GW has ever done, and i was playing during the dark times of 7th and before that during the reign of Matt Ward.

Battle Reports, Tier lists, Videos and all that.

Battle reports are on the cards and I will definitely be reporting on the climax of the battle for Khilsiek. There are also set to be encounters in the Star Trek universe and BFG. I am waiting on the opportunity to get a proper space map for my games, preferably a double sided one with Hexes on one side.  I've also got a few A Call to Arms Tier lists that are almost finished and due for release soon and some 'how to' videos that I will be putting on YouTube once i finish editing them, or rather, once someone else finishes editing them.

I'm always open to suggestions so if there is anything you would like to see please let me know and I will see if i can accommodate you.

If you like what I do, please consider supporting me on Patreon or buy me a nice cup of Coffee.

Thanks for reading, and I will see you next time.

  1. Star Trek conversion balancing is IFFY?! How dare you, sir. How dare you. :D

But yeah, that is the nature of the beast with B5W, especially fan conversions like those. It was a different time, 25 years ago, and some of the ships you're playing with have probably never seen the table before. But it's good to see, and we can tweak as necessary. Good to see you're keeping busy on projects!

    1. I have considered it, yes, there are loads of space combat games and I'm planning on trying as many as I can. It does take a while to become familiar with rulesets though. I do know, having played some of the other OPR games that its very simple in comparison to some older rule sets
